Summary for July 2026
Portfolio @ End of Jul26
My portfolio gained 3% in Jul26 but it still "underperformed" relative to the KLCI which jumped 3.6%.
MI and Teoseng both advanced 15% in the month.
MI is supposed to release its FY26Q2 result in August but it couldn't wait to release its magnificent financial result one month earlier.
Its FY26Q2 revenue of RM226mil & PATAMI of RM55.2mil (EPS 6.24sen) were both record high by a great margin, especially the PATAMI which increased 78% QoQ & 255% YoY.
More importantly, there was no significant net forex gain or one-off gain.
According to analyst report, there was 40% increase ASP for its patented solder balls which made up 60% of the total.
The management expects the momentum of SEBU to continue, while the demand outlook of its SMBU is "set to strengthen even further in the second half of FY2026".
It is "highly confident and enthusiastic about delivering an exceptional, standout performance in 2026".
Meanwhile, MI is working to list its SMBU in Singapore stock market as Mi Material Holding Pte Ltd.
Existing shareholders of MI will get 1 Mi Material share for every 100 MI shares owned. Lots of ordinary retail investors will end up with odd lots...
The listing of SMBU is considered good in general as it "unlocks the value" but as a minority shareholder, I'm not sure whether it's good to sell its most profitable business.
May be it will be fine if it is listed at high PE valuation.
Fortunately MI still holds 72.61% controlling stake in Mi Material after the listing.
EUPE's FY27Q1 result dropped QoQ as expected due to delay in new projects launch.
It still manage to register a small net profit of RM1.4mil (EPS 0.97sen) though.
As a result, its share price fell to below 70sen. It might fall further as next quarter is expected to be loss making.
I have pared down my shares in EUPE earlier and will wait for its next phase of property launch.
I have a plan to buy more Teoseng shares at below 80sen but I didn't act, as I am busy at work and pay less attention to the stock market.
I didn't make any transaction in the stock market for the past 2-3 months.
Its share price climbed to above 95sen and now it is at 90sen. Will it pull back further?
The tension in the Middle East escalated in the final week of July, resulting in the spike of Brent crude oil price from USD70 to above USD100 per barrel.
There is a real concern that the Bab al-Mandab strait in the Red Sea might be closed as well.
AAGB (AAX) lost 12.5% in the month as the jet fuel price spiked again.
Brent oil price has since retreated to around USD80 as the US and Iran seem to get closer to a deal, but now it is climbing up towards USD90 again.
Anyway, no one knows when the war can end, just like the war between Russia and Ukraine.
