Summary of January 2026
Portfolio @ End of Jan26
KLCI made an impressive start to the year of 2026 with a 3.62% gain, as the banking stocks continue their superb run since Dec25.
Jan26 also witnessed MYR strengthening and broke below RM4.00 against USD for the first time since 2018.
Gold and silver price continued their bull run only to fall sharply in the end of Jan26.
My portfolio performed well with a 11.7% gain thanks to IAB, which is the first stock to hit limit up in 2026.
Anyway, it is still a magnificent gain of 132% in 7 months.
IAB's share price seems to be well supported at RM1.80 but broke that support today due to the massive selldown of tech stocks.
I might consider to reinvest in it after studying its next quarter report in Mac26.
Tech stocks made a good run in the first half of Jan26 but retreated in the second half, perhaps due to the strong MYR and diminishing AI euphoria.
MI hit my target price of RM3.50 but I didn't sell, only to see it dropping back to below RM3.00 now.
I added a new stock Kobay into my portfolio and it seems to be at a wrong timing.
I made the move after reading RHB's analyst report, highlighting the "new AI server client with high margin".
Kobay's FY26Q1 result ended in Sep25 was marvelous, with record high quarter revenue and best net profit in 3 years, mainly due to its manufacturing segment.
According to RHB's report, the new AI server revenue was recognized from Sep25, which means it's just one month contribution to its previous quarter report.
So I have high hope for its performance in the next quarter from Oct25 to Dec25, that's why I decided to invest in it even though its PE isn't low at the moment.
I just bought the first tranche of Kobay shares so I'm looking to top up when the price is right.
Since last year, I have a plan to add consumer stocks into my portfolio in 2026.
I have a few of them in my watchlist such as AAX, Padini, YOCB, Teoseng etc but I ended up adding more FocusP shares.
Hopefully both its optical & F&B segment will register growth in 2026, and its share price will be at least supported by its good dividends.
