In August 2013, PDC has held a request for proposal of development of International theme park and 18-hole golf course in Batu Kawan. Its closing date was 31 Oct 2013.
Until now, there is no news from PDC regarding the participants and winner of the bid.
However, Business Times (5th Feb 2014) has reported that Eco World is currently the only bidder for the golf resort development, in which only 60ha of the total 190ha is designated for the golf course.
With this 190ha (470 acres) land, Eco World could emerge as developer that owns the largest plot of land in Batu Kawan.
If Eco World successfully win the bid, then I think it will be a good news to Batu Kawan development.
The land should be a hilly area at the north of Batu Kawan, but Eco World's management team should have the experience in developing hilly area in SP Setia's Setia Pearl Island.
Currently all Penangites are looking forward to the opening of Penang Second Bridge. Hopefully it won't be delayed again.
