Summary of September 2026
Portfolio @ End of Sep26
KLCI suffered a huge blow in Sep26 as it plunged 4.3% which was the worst monthly drop since Jan25.
My portfolio can't escape the bad sentiment and fell 2.6%.
AAGB is the main contributor to the loss in which it dived 34% in a month. It seems like my initial thought of never invest in aviation industry was the right one.
Brent oil price has reached USD110/barrel again this week. AAGB will surely have a tough time ahead.
I have high hope for its upcoming FY26Q3 result. I think its SMBU will continue its stellar performance with higher demand & ASP for its products.
However, when the whole market has high hope, any minor slip might result in heavy sell down of its shares.
Scientex delivered a record-breaking results for its FY26Q4. Both revenue & PATAMI of RM1.4bil & RM199.9mil (EPS 12.85 sen) respectively broke new highs.
There was a forex gain of RM12.5mil and impairment loss on other receivables of RM3.1mil in this quarter.
Without these one-off items, its net profit in FY26Q4 will still the best by a huge margin.
After being quiet for a while, Scientex strikes again with a proposed 502.6 acres land acquisition in Pulai for RM580mil.
At the same time, it also proposed to acquire 70% of Hunan ChangCheng Mint New Material Technology Co Ltd (Mintpack) in China for approximately RM101.5mil.
Mintpack is principally engaged in manufacturing of flexible plastic packaging, specializing in high quality flexible plastic bags and rolled films.
This acquisition is expected to expand Scientex's consumer packaging footprint into China and develop a customer base in the country.
The financial performance of Mintpack was not disclosed though.
Scientex's previous packaging businesses acquisitions have been quite successful. Hopefully this time it won't disappoint.
Another stock in my portfolio with significant selling pressure is KFIMA.
Since its so-so FY27Q1 quarter result announcement in the end of Aug26, its share price has been dropping by almost 20% from RM2.90 to RM2.35.
Is it simply profit-taking or something bad is brewing?
KFIMA always face some issue in its plantations in Indonesia. Initially the Indonesian government wanted to revoke its land cultivation rights due to administrative irregularities by local officials.
KFIMA appealed and won in 2018, and this case should have been settled.
However, as reported in its quarterly report, certain plantation areas in Indonesia are in the designated forest areas.
Therefore KFIMA could not fully operate in the affected areas which has affected its plantation earning.
It has applied for the "Izin Pelepasan Kawasan Hutan" but it seems to be under review for years.
Meanwhile, in Sep26, Indonesia parliament passed "Agrarian Reform Regulation Law" in which the permit holders must allocate at least 20% of land for local community redistribution or agrarian reform initiatives.
Is this one of the reasons for its weak share price?
KFIMA holds 49.6% indirect stake in Indonesia plantation through its 62%-owned Fimacorp, who owns 80% of PT Nunukan Jaya Lestari. The other 20% are owned by Indonesians.
Is KFIMA involved in the open burning that causes haze problem or its plantation destroyed by fire?
It's unlikely as its plantations are located northeast of Kalimantan near to Sabah, where there are not many hotspots.
It also claims to uphold a strict zero-burning policy which prohibits all forms of open burning.
Anyway, if KFIMA can continue with its 19sen dividend in FY27, its dividend yield will be an attractive 8% at RM2.35.
Our PM has tabled Malaysia Budget 2027. This time it seems to be a bit more relevant to me.
Individual tax relief threshold increases from RM9,000 to RM12,000 which is a welcome move.
Personal income tax rate reduces by 1% for tax brackets of RM70,000 to RM100,000 and RM100,000 to RM150,000, which means a tax saving of RM800 if the taxable income is over RM150,000.
Those with chargeable annual income of over RM1mil need to pay 30% tax.
Now we are entering the interest rate hike era. Stock markets usually face volatility and downward pressure during this time, especially the high valuation stocks.
May be I should sell more shares and keep more cash now.
